Wolfgang Tress

My UWR-Life began while doing the dive licence basics, our teacher got bored with watching us swimming and switched to UWR. I got hooked instantly. That's around 10 years ago - sadly I started quite late with 33 years. I play for my German Berlin Team, The Sporttaucher in the
German 1. north-league.

I prefer playing the defender position, attack is fine too, goalkeeper not so much. Fins I use: Najade and Waterways (Fiberglas). I have a B referee licence and a C license for competitive sports in UWR.

Apart from spending most of and too much time with UWR (Coaching the team, the youth...) I own a bookshop specialized in Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy, work part time as a freelance journalist, tour guide and try to do more as a fitness coach.

My idea of becoming a better UWR-player? Repeat the basics over and over again for muscle memory and play as a team, over and over again.

Why I play UWR? Because that's how I met the love of my life. Because of its never ending variations and possibilities. And because it's freaking' cool ;-),

Lorena Bianchi

Hola a todos!
I'm Lorena, born in Buenos Aires in 1974 and living in Berlin since 1999. I'm a Physical Education teacher and moved over here to study a degree in Sport Sciences (Prevention and Rehabilitation) at the Humboldt University.

My uw-rugby life started in 2001 with the University-Sport, there I completely fell in love with the sport and was unable to stop playing since then! I started playing for the Sporttaucher's men Team and for the Berliner women, which is the women team of Berlin.

With the girls I had the opportunity to participate and win in many National and International tournaments. We won the National League 6 times, won the Champions Cup 4 times and got the 2nd and 3rd place two other times.
Since a few years I've been taking part in the German National Team training’s and this helped me to learn and understand this fantastic sport much more.
How can we become better UW-Rugby players? Moving fast under water and keeping the ball moving.
Why do I play Uw-Rugby? There is no better rush to move within 3 dimensions!,

(Winne) Winfried Zühlke

is owner of Zühlke electronic. He´s a scientist of many divisions and a real problem solver.
As student he has upgraded his pocket money with self constructed metal detectors for under water searching.

Most of his projects have to do with diving. So he works for more than 20 years as designer for under water torches. He introduced the first UW-cameras into Under Water Rugby along time ago to make the sport more popular for spectators, and he is still working to improve camera and live-transmissions

But all his life Winne was a sportsman, too and is sportive career began in 1970, as a 10 year old boy. He plays Under Water Rugby, makes fin swimming, and under water orientation as competition. He has won gold medals in all the disciplines.

Under Water Rugby is his favourite sport now. He is the director and soul of the most popular and biggest uwr-tournament in the world, the Champions Cup.
